| | Description: | | Dag Arnesen is an established Norwegian jazz pianist who has performed with Joe Henderson, Elvin Jones, Woody Shaw, Phil Woods, Carla Bley, Paquito de Rivera and Maria Schneider, among many others. On his new CD, Norwegian Song, Arnesen reaches back to the music of his childhood. These folk songs, along with the music of Edvard Grieg and Ole Bull, have always been an important part of Arnesen's musical identity.
With this musical background and his experience as one of Norway's leading jazz pianists over the past several decades, Dag Arnesen is the perfect pianist to interpret this repertoire in the jazz piano trio format, featuring the two outstanding musicians: bassist Terje Gewelt and drummer Pål Thowsen.
Norwegian Song is an unusually beautiful recording, with fantastic melodies, inspired improvisation and masterly interaction between the players. This is a CD that will delight listeners of many musical genres, not only jazz lovers!
