Doin' Alright is legendary guitarist Cornell Dupree's last album, recorded just two months before he passed on May 8, 2011. Dupree made his name as a first-rate session guitarist, participating in hundreds of soul, blues, jazz and fusion records over the years. His name became more widely known after he joined the jazz-funk supergroup Stuff (with Eric Gale, Steve Gadd, etc.) and started releasing his own albums since 1973.
The producers of this fine album, recorded in Austin, Texas, with musicians who had admired him for many years, intended it to go back to his funk and blues roots, emphasizing his gritty, soulful side. The result is a truly memorable album, featuring Dupree's mature, bluesy guitar playing in a wonderful setting.
A must-have CD for fans of Cornell Dupree and recommended to music fans who dig funk and blues!
