Veteran guitarist Pepe Evengelista studied guitar at two conservatories, and currently is a professor at the Conservatory of Music of A Corna, teaching guitar, musical analysis, harmony and improvisation. He plays both classical music and jazz, and in the latter setting, he is an adventurous electric guitarist with clean lines.
The music he's written for Teima has a chamber music-like quality is atmospheric, mysterious and dreamy. The superb piano-less quartet, with the young and wonderful tenor saxophonist Roberto Somoza and a strong rhythm section of Kin Garcia on bass and Miguel Cabana on drums, does justice to this music with creative and daring improvisation. Guest singer Belen Xestal appears on two tracks and pianist Alberto Conde on one.
