A pioneering Japanese jazz musician, Sadao Watanabe is still going strong at age 80. For his latest release, he returned to Brazil whose people and music he's embraced since he first visited there 45 years ago. He was one of the first jazz musicians to incorporate Brazilian elements to his music and has over the years collaborated with many Brazilians such as Baden Powell, Elis Regina and Toquinho.
This time, Watanabe collaborates with a younger generation of musicians who know and respect him. The program is all his original compositions that feature gentle, heartfelt and eminently accessible melodies over the breezy rhythms of the bossa nova and samba. Recommended to fans of Sadao Watanabe and Brazilian jazz!
