When Higgins sat in with Fishman on a stage, "there was great chemistry from the first note" according to the tenorman. Fortunately for us listeners, they went into a studio a few days later and cut these eight delightful tunes.
Fishman, who is known as a Stan Getz scholar and jazz educator, channels the spirit of Getz -- his unlimited lyricism, penchant for creating beautiful improvised melodies, relaxed sense of swing -- without imitating him. Higgins, like a musical soul mate, provides beautiful accompaniment and inspired solos. His performance here is an epitome of simplicity and elegance.
Thankfully, the people at Chicago Recording Company also did a great job and captured these enchanting duets in good sound. Highly recommended!
