Mr. Jones is an important album that captured the legendary drummer Elvin Jones as he expanded his sound with multiple horn and percussion players, most notably David Liebman and Steve Grossman. The bulk of the recording comes from two sessions in July 1972, just a few months before the famous live recording at the Lighthouse. The title track is from an earlier session in 1969, featuring three saxophonists--Joe Farrell, George Coleman and Pepper Adams.

An exciting CD featuring the fiery drumming by and creative leadership of Elvin Jones!

Recorded September 26, 1969 and July 12 and 13, 1972. Originally released by Blue Note. This Japan-only reissue CD released by EMI Music Japan.
