Di Sabatino's original tunes written for the piano trio plus three horn players, constructed on various rhythmic foundations such as calypso, waltz and 4-beat swing, are certainly the highlights of this delightful album. There is something sunny and bright about this album. Each tune has a luminous, dancing quality that bring joy and happiness to the listener.
The songs are eminently accessible but sophisticated, and the performance is underscored by a high level of musicianship. The wide-range recording lets us fully appreciate the different tone of each horn, in addition to the warm and natural sound of the piano, deep bass and sparkling cymbals. Recommended!
