He has played with Pat Metheny, Michael and Randy Brecker, Woody Shaw, Johnny Griffin and Cassandra Wilson, just to name a few.
Whatever It Is is his fourth album as a leader, recorded in 1991. The quintet he formed for this special straight ahead project is truly international: Bert Joris on flute is Belgian, Roman Schwaller on tenor sax is Swiss, Dado Moroni on piano is Italian, and Haffner and Thomas Stabenow on bass are German.
And this European group swings like it's nobody's business, giving us another proof that jazz is a truly international language. The program consists of originals by the members and a few jazz classics. Groovy, hot and exciting, this is what jazz is all about!
