Not exactly a heavy weight, Ayumi has a pleasant, breezy tone on her alto and soprano sax. The album opens with one of her five attractive originals, "Signs of Autumn" which describes the transition from one season to another. She demonstrates she can bop and play the blues with Tommy Flanagan's "Freight Trane" and her ballad interpretations on the beautiful "It's Easy To Remember" and "Calling You" which is played by just her and Hazeltine.
Nice, straight-ahead jazz with a contemporary feel by a promising young musician!
