| Description: | | "Cathy Rocco is a gritty and bluesy yet introspective singer...and easily recommended to those who like their vocal jazz laced with a generous dose of soul and blues."
- allmusic.com
"this dynamic jazz vocalist packs more than a tune's worth of warmth and power into every song she sings...something special."
- Top40-Charts.com
"Cathy Rocco possesses that sensitive voice which reaches into the heart of a song..."
- Primus Robinson, WRTI-FM, WDAS-FM
Singing with deep conviction, Cathy Rocco began performing professionally at age 10 with her sisters. The Rocco Sisters toured and recorded for Sutra records. For the past 10 years, Cathy has focused on singing jazz. She enjoys interpreting a seamless blend of jazz, blues and pop material.
On this recording, she is heard to fine effect in a combination of small and large group performances. With her sophisticated and soulful voice, Rocco packs warmth and power into some well-known standards and contemporary pieces. The piano playing and arrangements by Kuno Schmid and especially Tamir Hendelman are inventive and wonderful.
The core band featuring the late Dave Carpenter (who sadly passed away recently), Vic Stevens and Michael Higgins swings hard. Resonance Records artist John Beasley appears as a guest and plays organ on "Give Me One Reason." This album contains both studio and live recordings, both of which sound superb thanks to the producer/engineer George Klabin. After listening to this great album, we indeed look forward to hearing from Ms. Rocco again!
Produced, recorded and mixed by George Klabin. Released on August 12, 2008. | Eastwind Import Price: | |
