Guerin, who passed away last year, was a great French jazz trumpeter who played professionally since the 1940s with such legends as Django Reinhardt and Kenny Clarke.
In this cool and funky album, Guerin and his French cohorts join forces with Golson and Timmons who were visiting France with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. These performances, mostly of Golson's immortal hard bop compositions, are of extremely high quality and will stand up to any recorded efforts by the original Messengers. The sound quality of the digital transfer from the original master tapes is also superb, adding value to this rare reissue CD!
