With his light touch and sprightly swing, Fink's piano music reminds me of a brightly colored pastel painting, perhaps a cityscape with lots of sunshine.
With his son Johannes on bass and Munich-based drummer Werner Schmitt, Fink presents an intricately layered and solid trio music, leaving them plenty of room for inspired, imaginative solos. The program consisits of well-known standards, Fink's original compositions and an interesting rendition of a Beatle tune, "Can't Buy Me Love."
This is the kind of CD to which you keep returning on a nice, sunny afternoon. It will cure whatever ails your heart.
