Artist/Band: | | Natsuki Kido & Daisuke Suzuki - The Duo | Name: | | Seasons | Cat No.: | | WPCL-10775 | Performed by: | | Natsuki Kido (guitar) Daisuke Suzuki (guitar)
| Release Date: | | 04/21/2010 | Description: | | Simply known as "The Duo" in Japan, the unlikely team of jazz/progressive rock guitarist Natsuki Kido classical guitarist Daisuke Suzuki has gained popularity over the past several years through their unique and beautiful collaboration projects. They both play acoustic guitar and employ no overdubs in their recordings.
Their third album, Seasons, takes the listener to a temporal journey through the four seasons, beginning with "I'll Remember April" and ending with "You Must Believe In Spring." In between, they have such seasonal fares as "Summer Samba," "Estate," "September Song" and "California Dreamin'" all arranged with great taste and executed with superb musicianship.
Even more attractive, at least to my ears, are their four original compositions. "Sign Of Summer"and "Splash Ocean"are brisk and exhilarating, "Cicada In Red" has an very interesting polyrhythmic effect by combining 3/3 and 4/4 rhythms, and "Snow Apple, or Waiting" is tender and dreamy. No wonder they are so popular in Japan! Recommended especially to those who love the sounds of the acoustic guitar!
Recorded July 2009 at Onkio Haus in Tokyo, Japan. | Eastwind Import Price: | |
