Whimsically titled Changing The Jazz At Buckingham Palace is a charming record that couples two tracks by the Tubby Hayes Quintet (Tracks 1 & 2) and three by the Dizzy Reece Quartet (Tracks 3-6). Both recorded in July, 1956, these sessions epitomizes the British Hard Bop in the 1950s.

The quintessential British tenor saxophonist Tubby Hayes was accompanied by Dickie Hawdon (tp), Harry South (p), Pete Elderfield (b) and Bill Eyden (ds) while the star trumpeter Dizzy Reece recorded with Terry Shannon (p), Lennie Bush (b) and Phil Seamen (ds).

The sound quality of this mono recording is very good. It was made for Savoy and mastered by Rudy Van Gelder, was transferred to digital with 24-bit MasterSonic processing. Recommended!

Recorded July 17 (Tubby Hayes 5) & July 23 (Dizzy Reece 4), 1956. Mono.
