DSD remastered!
Rosemary Squires (b. 1928) is one of the most celebrated cabaret/jazz/standards singers in the United Kingdom. She began her professional career in 1948 and became a national star with her own BBC Radio show in 1949. She has remained at the forefront of popular song since then. Having performed at a number of royal events, she received the MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to music and charity. She is still singing today, and even wrote a personal note to this CD.
The 14 tunes contained in this CD were recorded for Reader's Digest between 1961 and 1970. Sold through mail order, the original records were soon forgotten and faded into obscurity, until the good people at the Japanese label SSJ Records uncovered them and released them on CD for the first time.
Arrangements of these well-known standards were provided by Wally Stott, Ken Thorne, Johnny Gregory, Robert Mandell and Norman Percival. A rare gem for collectors and fans of female jazz singers!
