Artist/Band: | | Pat Moran | Name: | | This Is Pat Moran [CD] | Cat No.: | | XQAM-1612 | Performed by: | | Pat Moran (piano) Scott LaFaro (bass) Gene Gammage (drums)
| Release Date: | | 10/20/2010 | Description: | | First CD reissue in 13 years! DSD remastered!
This Is Pat Moran is a wonderful piano trio record from late 1957. It has been tremendously popular in Japan for the great performance by bassist Scott LaFaro and its attractive jacket design--although, according to Moran, those on the photo are models and not musicians themselves. For this CD reissue, SSJ Records went to the source and newly remastered the album in DSD.
While Moran is an excellent pianist with apparent stylistic similarities to Sonny Clark, the biggest attraction on this album to many listeners today is Scott LaFaro, who is given ample solo spaces to stretch out. His revolutionary concept and technique, fluid lines and imagination are on full display.
Recorded 1957 in New York. Originally released by Audio Fidelity. Stereo.
