Artist/Band: | | Thomas Enhco | Name: | | The Window And The Rain | Cat No.: | | HMCJ-1007 | Performed by: | | Thomas Enhco (piano) Chris Jennings (bass) Nicolas Charlier (drums) Terumasa Hino (trumpet) Kiyohiko Semba (percussion)
| Release Date: | | 02/23/2011 | Description: | | Thomas Enhco (b. 1988) began playing the violin at age 3, piano at 6, and studied classical music and jazz at the same time. He joined the band led by his stepfather and jazz violinist Didier Lockwood at age 9, and began playing at prestegious venues and jazz festivals. He has performed with Michael Brecker, Wynton Marsalis and Peter Erskine, among others.
The present CD marks Enhco's sophomore release following his highly acclaimed major debut, Someday My Prince Will Come. In a varied program, Enhco and his French trio peform five of the leader's original compositions and several standards, in addition to John Lennon's "Love." Japanese trumpeter Terumasa Hino guests on two tracks and Japanese percussionist Kiyohiko Semba on two others. Enhco even switches his instrument and plays violin on "My Romance."
Enhco's lyricism, technique and beautiful tone are in full display, and his compositions are varied and strong. The sound quality of this CD is wonderful, too! The pure DSD-recording and the specail CD formulation, employing green label coating and silver spattering (using a special silver alloy instead of aluminum for the reflective layer) result in clean and prestine piano tones, a wider dynamic range and three-dimensional soundstage.
Produced by Yasohachi "88" Itoh. Recorded at Sony Music Studios, Tokyo, on August 30 and 31, 2010. | Eastwind Import Price: | |
