Description:Diana Panton may not be a household name in the U.S. yet, but she is being heralded as one of Canada's most promising jazz vocalists. Discovered by legendary Canadian multi-instrumentalist Don Thompson at age 19, she later studied under Norma Winstone, Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton at the reputed jazz workshop at the Banff Center for the Arts.

Panton's voice is pure, sensitive, and soulful. She has the coquettishness and inventiveness of Blossom Dearie and the relaxed assuredness of Irene Kral. She is not one to dazzle the listener with fast scatting or adding surprising twists to well-known songs. Her art is in inflections and phrasings that are subtle but very effective. Her individuality shines through the intimate connection she unfailingly establishes with the listener.

Panton's latest release, Pink, is a narrative concept album about the twists and turns of new love. It features superb accompaniment once again from Reg Schwager and Don Thompson along with a highlight appearance from Canada's premier horn player Guido Basso. Another fabulous album by Diana Panton. Strongly recommended!

Recorded August 2008 at Inception Sound Studios, Toronto, Canada.
