| Release Date: | | 12/17/2008 | Description: | | World Premier Reissue on CD!
Another collector's item for jazz vocal fans from SSJ records! This is the first-ever CD reissue of a very rare LP that commands $300 to $400 in an auction. Sue Childs grew up in Flint, Michigan, and started singing in high school. She sang with Jim and Tony Sotos in Flint, which led to this record made for the label owned by the Sotos brothers.
What made this album, recorded in 1965in a small town of Rock Island, Illinois, particuarly desirable for collectors is the participation of a star saxophonist, J.R. Monterose, on two tunes. Why Monterose? Well, it just so happens that he was staying there for a while after a tour with a rock group called Jay and the Americans.
There are some rough edges in this record, but the strong voice and confident delivery of Sue Childs are distinct and attractive. This is a very unique CD--a kind that can only be reissued in Japan!
Recorded in 1965, Rock Island, Illinois. Originally released by Studio 4 Records. This reissue CD in paper sleeve (mini-LP) package was released in Japan by SSJ Records on December 17, 2008. | Eastwind Import Price: | |
