Pianist and vipraphonist Buddy Montgomery was the younger brother of Wes and Monk Montgomery, and a key member and the main arranger of the Mastersounds and the Montgomery Brothers, groups he formed with his brother(s). He had a long and successful career as performer, arranger, producer and teacher until he passed away in 2009 at age 79.

Remembering Wes is a tribute album to his brother and legendary guitarist, recorded in 2000 for the Japanese label M&I. A majority of the tracks are by Buddy's trio with Stan Gilbert on bass and Carl Burnett on drums. Two percussionsits join the trio on a few tracks. Fittingly, the group performs tunes either composed by or strongly associated with Wes, including "West Coast Blues," "A Day In The Life" and "Full House." Buddy employs different approaches to differnt tunes and shows his great skills as pianist and arranger.

Produced by Makoto Kimata. Recorded in June 2000.
