Sir Elf Plus 1, originally released by Choice Records in 1978, is a follow-up to his first, brilliant solo album which had been released five years earlier. In addition to Hanna's solo performances, his long-time associate and bassist George Mraz joined him in a duo setting for about half of the material.
In addition to Hanna's pianistic brilliance, the listener can enjoy the wonderful collaboration between the two great musicians. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. In addition to familiar standards, Hanna provides an original composition featuring Mraz ("Meeting Of The Minds") and an arrangement based on Chopin's Edute #6 ("Majorca"). "What, Does It Matter?" is an original composition by Mraz.
This reissue CD includes two bonus tracks not included in the original LP ("How Long Has This Been Going On" and "I'll Close My Eyes").
