This is a historic and previously unreleased jam session from the night of September 14, 1952 when Stan Getz turned up at The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, the Mecca of the West Coast jazz scene. The other players are the regular members of the Lighthouse All-Stars at that time: Shorty Rogers, Milt Bernhart, Hampton Hawes, Howard Ramsey, and Shelly Manne. The exception is Arno Marsh, who substituted for Jimmy Giuffre. Arno plays plays clarinet on two of the three tunes, perhaps out of respect for Stan.
